Referred to as the Airflow experiment, this project developed calibration methodology by tasking participants with selecting the best airflow meter for a given scenario.
The accuracy and precision of 4 different flowmeters (venturi, orifice, nozzle, rotameter) were determined by collecting and analyzing 9-13 data points across 13 flow rates of air. Information such as ambient conditions, the temperature at each meter, the pressure drop across each meter, and the known air flowrate from a calibrated device allowed for an accurate comparison between devices. We used each device's discharge coefficient at each flowrate to track performance. This information is displayed in the graph below.
